October 2018 – Very Berry Smoothie
One of the most common questions our trainers receive is about protein shakes and smoothies. Some smoothies are so high in sugar and calories that they qualify as a dessert treat. For post-workout and meal-replacement smoothies, we recommend a balance of fruits and vegetables to maximize the nutritional benefits while keeping sugar content low. This Very Berry smoothie is a good source of calcium, fiber, potassium, iron, and vitamins A and K.
- 1/2 cup milk*
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt*
- 1 banana, frozen
- 1 cup berries, frozen
- 1 cup spinach
- 2 Tbsp. oats
Place all ingredients in a blender and process until smooth.
*Non-dairy milk and yogurt can be substituted for dairy products.
